update only

Hi All

Just to let you know that we have our last scheduled exhibition for this year in October, I am currently in disposed in regard to posts, but Doug has been busy with the BP distribution terminal for Barcoola.
Athearn have released a new 89ft flat car C channel side and ACF5 fifth wheels, so I have decided to see if I can cut them down to 86ft flat cars (AFIY & AFWY) flats. Anyway I will update when I can.

Regards

Scott.

Barcoola and Alice Springs update

Hi All

We have test fitted Barcoola in Jon's new trailer, and success it all fits including all the legs lights and various boxes. The layout is currently in the Train room, in its packed up state, this is due to it needing to go to another exhibition later this year. In will advise when we get closer to the time. I have also been playing with the plan of Alice Springs, and have settled on a interim plan with the Fiddle yard from Barcoola supplementing this design. I have also decided to reduce the length of the yard slightly, shocking i know..... This will enable operation of the entire yard and one end of the fiddle yard without the need to duck under anything. This is just one of the things that currently bugs me about Barcoola.
I have also decided to add more sidings in the industrial area, more in line with the 1993 era.
Thanks

Scott

The ABFX finaly

Heres a picture of the pilot model of the ABFX, ten of these could be soaked into Barcoola's fiddle yard without too much trouble, I am sure Glen will want some in SCT for his ultra modern obsesssion!

Mildura shunting layout

One of the less traditional VR layouts, more involved in design elements, and shunting.

I like the concept of this industrial area, Co-ops etc.

The pre production PBGY by Railmotor models

Hi All

We were lucky enough to get a closer than usual look at the pilot model of the PBGY, Greater Freighter. Inital impressions are very sharp, might need some more weight to be in longer consists, end detail is good. Would be a great addition to the Barcoola ultra modern program, which Glen is now driving with full force. The rest of us seem to be just along for the ride. Any way we will be picking up some of these for Barcoola.

Thanks

Scott

Barcoola at Caulfield 2011 pt 2

Heres a shot of the new fiddle yard, we had trains up to 32ft long on day two, equal to 850 HO metres. The new light weight yard has made it so much easier to put the layout up.

Steve Munro's CLP and CLF equiped with sound and flashing ditch lights made an appreance to Barcoola on day two, one operator spent some quality time running this job.

JD, a ring in operator, shunts the new extended Barcoola yard.

GM30 & GM32 makes the schooners in the Ginacood Hotel vibrate with the Gin Gin hum from their 567 donks.

We got the FAQs.

Where did you get the decals for the semi trailers?

How did you weather CL2 & GM30?

A classic was:

While Roger was shunting, a patron commented:

Please tell me the guy who built this is 65 and retired, because there is no way any one else could have the time to build all this, Roger replied, in the negitive. He was surprised...

Greg from Perth, follows the blog and introduced himself, we had a chat and discussed his favorite prototype SCT. Great to catch up and saying G'day.... I will follow up with a AN tanker article for you.
