Ultra modern rolling stock for Barcoola Glen’s RZAY
Glen has visited this week, an has bought along some of his handy work, including a RZAY relay van, features include.
Correct end detail with the vent in the old communication door.
Carefully filed A/C pod vents, on the prototype they are covered over with stainless steel.
Appropriate windows blanked off.
Skirting detail removed and exposed fame modelled in its place.
Moulded on steps removed, and correct re-built steps modelled, complete with plastic see though grills.
Lima bogies replaced with Walthers spare parts bogies, which have the correct lateral shock absorber. In the process glen lowered the coach to the correct overall height.
The roof is removable, so that interior detail can be added.
Buffer beam and skirting detail has been added to both ends.

Kierans ABFY

Hi All

A quick pic of a ABFY that is part of Kieran's collection. You might notice the difference in the location of the reporting marks, thus this shows that the model is not a BGB kit but a scratch build. Realy nice work.

A lttle shunting layout in Kewdale Sadliers Depot WA

Attached are some pictures of a potential shunting layout nestled in the industrial area of Kewdale. This consists of a small ex dual gauge yard with lots of industry tracks. Today the area services Sadliers, which use ex NSW NLKYs and assorted flats for shipping of goods to an from the eastern states. Previously to this they also serviced Kalgoorlie WA, with WBAX vans. Thus would be a very busy shunting area.

I paced out the area and have a track diagram which I will up load, with more detail of the operations.

I have added some more shots of the Sadliers terminal in Kewdale, lots of ex NLJYs in various liveries, just begging to be modelled, in discussion with Kieran the PN shunter is used to sunt this terminal, could be a 80 class, 81 or NR, but also would have been possible for a ARG L, Q or AC. The trackage curves into the terminal, and check out the ultra modern "goods" shed. Containerised traffic also use this yard.

QRN wagons cont

Hi All

Please see attached some of the more pictures of the QRN train wagons.
The CQWY two pack 48ft well wagon, these seem to be at the rear of the train most of the time ex Perth. BGB kit is a good start.
PQWY, macrail 40ft well wagon, looking slightly more weathered, looks like a AQWY clone, but stand alone.
ex AQSY AN 63 ft flat, painted with while sides and grey top.
ex AQPY GWI rebuilt AOOX, with while sides but retains the orange top. Interesting modeling feature.

Kieran's Trailerail NR

Hi All

Considering the time frame that Keiran is modeling, this Trailerail NR is right on the money.
Lots of end detail, the right amount of muck. Australian Flag, and builders plate on the cab sides. Would make a good evening project. End result is a very prensentable model.

Kieran's Pilbara stuff

To round out the off topic stuff.
here is some more of Kieran's work. The HI Dash9 44CW is spot on with all the handrail configuration faithfull to the prototype, as does the tear drop windscreens.
Note the end detail, including the addtional grilles in the B end number boards. the correct number of steps.
also is his CM39-8, kitbashed from a Bachmann C40-8. MnJ decals round off the model.
