An interesting little On30 layout, puffing billy has come a long way.

SDS has three examples of their 80ft comtainer flat, nice with TNT containers.

A 1972 Cliffs Robe River Iron Associates ballast train youtube video

Hi All, here is a link to an old video of a ballast train at the 10kp, in 1972 and footage of the trip up and through to siding two.

Its a bit wonky, but there is footage of two M636 in the original straight yellow scheme, and 262 series numbering,

There is also some footage of modified ore cars into ballast ploughs.

 It looks like the BNSF symbol is the eye of a crazy monster, very creative!

 Here is the side of the entire hopper.

Here is another picture, showing the twist in the tongue!

Would make a very interesting modeling job.

Alice Springs progress.

Hi All

i have been amending the plan of Alice Springs to reflect what should be there the most I can.

Here is a bit of an update aas to whats been going on.

A new track has been added, and the locomotive depot has been revised.

Inspection pit has been installed, tracks have been moved to go through the locomotive depot at the right distance.

The turnatable tracks have been established, looks alot more list Alice Springs should.  I am alot happier with the result.

Another  shot of the locomotive depot, the access road, will go between the two tracks in the foreground.

The Mobil siding has been moved to the correct postion for eawrly 1990's at the very south eastern end of the yard, this has meant that the level crossing has had to be moved! Grrrr!  End result will be a better version of Alice Springs.

The Backdrop is up and fits like a glove into the locators built into the boards.  i have also roughed in a cutting at the south end of Bow Creek.

A new cross over has been added to the west end of the yard, this should make shunting a little easier,  especially for the ultra modern version.

Anyway, just a quick update.

Pinnaroo line Grain trains in 2015

Hi All

Thanks to glen for the heads up, there were two grain trains over the now threatened Pinnaroo line.

GM43 GM42 and 2210 with a loaded Grain #3152, on Friday.

Two trains ran over the weekend, Friday and Saturday, this was the same weekend of the Adelaide model railway exhibition.   So I combined both into the weekend!

Early on Friday train number 1351 was already at Grain Flows facility at Pinnaroo.  The high speed loader doing its job the train is already half loaded!

Even Earlier that morning out of Oyen I stumbled on a PN empty grain with XR558 X41 and G531, and yes some storm light! BTW the bakery in Oyen has some of the best pies and sausage rolls, highly recommended.

ALF19 was added at Tailem Bend, and combined with GM43 GM42 and 2210 made short work of 31 grain hoppers, powering through Callington.

Early the next morning #3151 has 2210, GM42 and GM43 fight through the fog, on their way back to Pinnaroo, this time to the town silos, lots more shunting to do.

I got some detail shots of Pinnaroo, then we chased it back to Tailem Bend, counter meal done and dusted,

With the extra time to shunt the town silos, the crew change was accomplished on the branch today.  Thanks for the entertainment guys!
