Alice Springs industrial siding continued

The trackage within the Sadabin distribution terminal, note the curvature of northern track.

The entrance gate of the Sadabin distribution terminal, to the right is the bridge over the drain that goes right through the yard.

The Kleen Gas siding is to the right.

So this a little bit of a Lance Mindhiem in the middle of Alice Springs industrial area.

Thanks again to Doug for the pictures.

  1. Hello Scott.

I am just beginning a model railway in the same tradition as you and again influenced by Lance Mindheim. The photos above resemble closely the site I have chosen in Kalgoorlie. BP, Caltex, Shell, Origin Gas, TollWest and Ex Cockburn Cement all in a small industrial park. Just google -30.778469,121.42703 to find it. I am very interested to see your progress and your thoughts on operation

  2. Hi Glenn

I was google earthing that exact location last weekend. The way that yard is set up makes it perfect. If you look in the yard, the neck seems to chocka with wagons, either from the industrial area, or going to.
Even better there is a senic break, between the yard and the industrial sidings.

I got some shots of an L class shunting this location back in 1999.

I will have to bend Kieran's ear on that one.

    thanks

    Scott

  3. Hello Scott

I have only a little information on the industrial sidings at the moment but it is increasing slowly. I have a blog, soon to be published, that I will use to update info as it comes to hand.

If you have any further info on this location it would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    Glenn
